Player Lesson With Beverle Ostrofsky: Gain Control of Your Golf Swing Fast With Basic Skills
The Summer of Great Golf continues! Join the Greatness via this link 👉 gleam.io/wzjsW/improvement-prize-pack
When Mike started working with Beverle, the golf swing was a mystery to her. Her history of body control with dance helped, but Mike provided her the key exercises for golfers at any level related to face control.
Tiger Woods, Bob Toski, Bryson DeChambeau, and more are incredible players because of the countless hours they spend learning to control the club face.
Basic skills improve your golf swing and golf scores immediately, and let's hope your next instructor provides you with the right tasks suited for your game.

    Interesting how she makes a really good practice swing keeping the club away from her and not bending her left elbow much at all. But when she actually hits the ball the elbow still breaks a little too much. The old ball focus syndrome. Good to watch this. I love live lessons.

      I’m getting close to detaching my swing from ball focus, but still have a mental block about it in some ways. How did you fix it for yourself? Any good swing thoughts you can share?

    • @guitar1950
      @guitar1950 2 дні тому

      @@rickrocketts183 An interesting thing to try is to focus your eyes on a spot 2 - 4 inches in front of the ball and hit balls. Trust it. I can actually see the ball leave the club face. Another thing to do is to look at your target for several seconds before hitting the ball. Keep the target fixed in your mind and swing to the target. Good luck!

    It’s similar to a bowling finish. Like sliding your trail leg laterally towards the target. If your hip fully clear you should see the similar finish like a bowler has with the lower body

    Holding the club this way is the easiest and most natural. After trying several different ways to hold it I tried this and I am hitting more greens and much better more consistent contact with the ball. As well as more distance! Great video

    Thanks Mike, you've always talked about getting the lower body out of the way so your arms can swing free, I've definitely looked at scottie swing but listening to you break it down, it makes total sense of course , that why he's the # 1 player in the world, caught the video late, scottie like most pros got beat up at Pinehurst, a bit unfair those greens in my opinion, but whatever, Nice breakdown, Thank you.

    I found this video last night, I purchased your lesson program also. I have been struggling so bad lately with ball striking. After watching this video on setting the wrists properly and making sure they’re not cupped, I have never felt so confident after a round. It was night and day today at the course, strikes were pure, balls were flying high & straight, I had one bad shot all evening, Driver was 🔥, Irons were crisp, wedges were flush. It’s crazy what one simple thing will do for a guy. Thank you very much, I’m a 13 handicap and this video is gonna help me so much as well as your M system.

    This is what screwed me up sooooooo bad early on and most recently. I went back to the fundamentals of what the club is presenting engineering wise. It was best move I made because I forgot all the teachings and relied on what the club was doing when I took it back (given I am setup properly)

    I coach Disc Golf. And I'm one of the few folks in the sport teaching this move. Our move is more dynamic than 'ball golf' because we walk up into our swing rather than stand still, so Scotties move is present in alot more of our strong players. Really nice to see Scottie having success with this move and really nice to see Malaska laying down solid coaching on it! Thanks!

    To me, it seems as if most golf instruction has failed to adapt regarding hands, and grip. First, the standard to mid size grips are simply too small for most people to get a good feel for proper contact. Those sizes are not much bigger than grabbing a shaft with no grip. Finger controlling swings result in erratic face control, too much subtle movement that translates into gear effect or a twisty face. Bigger putter grips result in less grip pressure, and a smoother delivery, and the same is for all the other clubs in the bag. Fatter grips get the hands more involved, not just the fingers. The result is less strangling of the club through the grip, and a smoother takeaway and contact. It's not about swing speed, it's about accuracy. If you sacrifice 20 yards or so by not trying to swing fast thinking that means speed, you will find a more consistent strike that gets you solid distance and a straighter line. For 500 years skinny grips have been used on golf clubs and while people have adapted to control the flight, a fatter grip will yield better results once you get used to the feeling of it in your hands and fingers, not just the fingers.

    I had so many misconceptions about the swing. It is like when I use to teach people what I was actually doing during a crunch. I thought I knew something about the golf swing, about chipping, pitching, and putting, but everything is up for another look now.

    Hi Mike. Thanks to another of your videos where you used a cardboard cutout to show how the pelvis moves, I came to an understanding today about the hips. I loaded into or learned to make my right hip deep in my backswing, but where I struggled was how my left hip was supposed to work. I thought I was suppose to toggle my hips along the angle formed by my deep right hip. Your video showed that from my deep right hip, the center of my pelvis should be moving away from the ball which should produce an easy move to an open and back left hip. Some things happened that never made sense until today: my left leg posted properly and I figured why some power hitters pull their front legs back. Well, it is not so much that they pull it back, but the action (proper action) of the hips could do it if done powerfully. Another discovery is that because of my bad pelvis action, I felt a sharp pan in my hip. Another drill that brought clarity about moving the hips was the step back drill. It became clear that the movement of my left lower body had been wrong.
